Program Information:
Time to Ride is an informal ride and mountain bike lesson that will run from 2:45 to 5:00 p.m. Students will be picked up at Union Elementary School by the bike racks adjacent to the playground at 2:45 p.m. Students will then ride to Montpelier Middle School to pick up students there by the bike racks in front of the school adjacent to the entrance at 3:00 p.m. Students will ride with two experienced ride leaders to the Montpelier Pool parking lot, where they will access the covered shelter and trails at North Branch Park. ALL RIDERS SHOULD CARRY ANYTHING HOME FROM SCHOOL THAT DAY IN THEIR BACKPACKS. It is not safe for children to carry anything other than their backpacks while riding, so please plan to carry only things that can reasonably fit in a backpack. Backpacks will be left inside a locked vehicle belonging to a ride leader in the Montpelier Pool Parking Lot.
Parents can also drop their kids off at the Montpelier Pool Parking Lot, but will need to make arrangements ahead of time.
Parents will pick up their children at the Montpelier Pool Parking Lot (on Elm Street / 12 North) at 5:00 p.m.
Tristan will email parents on Sunday night with this same info for each coming week, as a reminder. Email Tristan with any questions at skithegreens@gmail.com.
Weather Statement:
If the forecast calls for inclement weather with lightning or thunder, the ride is cancelled. The bike path could be utilized for rainy days that don’t include lightning. Cancellations will be made by email sent to parents by noon that day, or sooner whenever possible. Unfortunately we are not able to refund families in the instance that the program is cancelled for the day.
What to Bring/Wear:
All riders should be wearing comfortable clothes for biking. A helmet is required. Please make sure your child can carry water with them on their bike or in a small hydration pack (no backpacks). If you need help with gear or setup, contact Tristan for help.
All riders should have with them:
-
A mask
-
Hand sanitizer
-
Water bottle
-
Snack

If you need a bike, helmet, water bottle and bottle cage, or other gear, please reach out. We want to help make sure that a lack of gear isn't a barrier to riding for any child.
Covid-19 Statement:
All riders will be practicing social distancing. When that is not possible, such as during snack time, riders are encouraged to have a mask with them. Riders are not expected to wear masks while riding. Ride leaders will wear masks when working with children or attending to any medical needs such as on-trail first aid.
